Travel wear

I remember when I was a little girl that getting on an airplane was a big deal. Travelling was a big deal.

My siblings and I were raised in a very traditional Greek home with both parents and grandmother. We spoke to our extended family in Greece whenever we could and being a little girl, it seemed like they were so so far away.

I don’t remember the very first time I went to Greece because I was an infant, but the second time I went I was about 7 years old - it was going to be my sibling’s first time.

I remember my mother putting my siblings and I in matching outfits. We all wore navy/blue/white and my sister and I wore white hats with white sandals. We had to look nice and not get dirty. :)

I don’t remember how I felt then, but looking back at the pictures I think I would have felt special. That is and should be the effect clothing has on you.

When I travel, comfort is key, but also feeling and looking good is just as important.

Here are some look-good, feel-good travel pieces:

Bottoms - Pants with an elastic or drawstring with some stretch or a larger fit style jean. You can opt for a wide leg, cuffed, or straight leg.

Layer - A t-shirt under a half zipped sweater or cardigan that can easily be removed if you are warm.

Footwear - Fashion sneakers in white or black with support. These will transition from your airport outfit, to jeans, and dresses.

Top layer - Trench coat or oversized cardigan. A great layer that will elevate your look, provide extra warmth, and can be worn with all your other pieces.

Accessories - A lightweight scarf like a pashmina is a must for me. I take it everywhere I go for added warmth and style.

  • A baseball cap in a neutral colour if you have an early morning or late flight. No need to stress about your hair at this point.

  • Sunglasses, tres chic.

  • A tote bag that is easy to get things in and out of. I sometimes opt for a fanny pack for a short haul flight or a school bag for those running airport moments when you are short on time.

Also, good comfortable and supportive undergarments - one’s that don’t ride or dig in. This is important. :)

Wear a good hydrating moisturizer and add a little gloss or colour to your lips and away you go.

I always say and do believe that “the way you dress is a reflection of how you feel”.

Maybe putting a little bit more effort to your travel outfit might make that flight just a little more comfortable.
