Self love

Self love quote

February...for some it is the month of love and for others it is the shortest month of the year.

As you are walking by stores and window displays of all things love, how often is it that you would think about yourself or purchase something for you? Probably not often. The first thing I thought of was to get a card for my husband & girls and pick up some chocolate.  The thought was there, but as I browsed I was getting distracted by pretty things that I love such as: candles, books, and some self care products.  This got me thinking, shouldn't I buy something for myself? Why not?!

This inspired me to share with you a few things that you could do for you. Not just for the 14th of February, but a little bit each day.

A GOOD BOOK  - Who doesn't love to be curled up in a comfy spot with a delicious cup of tea, a candle lit, and a good book or magazine in hand?

SPA - Book that appointment and treat yourself! If you don't like spas, you can create one at home.  Light some candles in your bathroom, play some music, and lock the door!  Your body and mind will thank you for it.

YOGA - What better way to be surrounded by community and breath, but still be about you on your mat?

SHOPPING - When has a little shopping therapy ever harmed anyone?  Even if it's something small like that new lipstick shade you've been eyeing..if it's going to make you feel good, go ahead and treat yourself!

NATURE - You really don't have to go very far.  Nature is all around us.  Take that beautiful stroll on a nearby path or sit outside on your front step and just be. Listen to what's around you and take in the beauty that surrounds us everyday that we barely ever notice.  Be still.  It is a difficult thing, but a very gratifying one.

I know it's not easy to think of doing things for yourself, but everything that I mentioned above really can be quite simple.  Being a full time mother, wife, and entrepreneur keeps me very busy but I can't stress enough how important it is to take time to take care of your mind and body.  As easy as it is for me to say,  it is still very difficult for me to do.  I have been down some difficult paths a couple times in the last few years because I simply forget to just breathe.  It is a learning process and having the love and support of my family reminds me that they are the reason I have to take some time for me.  So the moment you start to second guess yourself about doing something for you, remember who and what things mean the most to you and then do it.  You can't take care of others until you take care of yourself first.

Happy love day, everyday.
