It's that time of year again when the holiday parties and fundraiser gala's begin. Such a great reason to get all dressed up!
But what does it mean when the invitation reads: Black tie, Cocktail, or Business Casual? What does one wear? So many people get stuck.
Do not despair my friends, I am here to help make your dress planning a little easier :)
Black Tie
The most formal dress code. You can wear anything from a long dress, to dressy separates, to a formal cocktail dress. It depends on what you're invited to. For example, if it's a high end wedding, then you can wear a gown. If you're going to a work function or gala that calls for a black tie, then a little black dress with some statement jewelry would be perfect.
Cocktail
A black dress is always a good piece to have in your closet. If your dress has some sparkle, this would be perfect to wear to a cocktail party. If not, add some fun and sparkle with jewelry pieces and shoes. If you would rather wear colour, opt for something bright and feminine.
Business Casual
Most corporate offices have a dress code that calls for business casual. Pants and some sort of blazer or jacket would be great, or perhaps an A-line skirt with a fun blouse is your way to go. If jeans is your thing, I would suggest a pair of skinny jeans with some sort of jacket or blazer and a great tee. Pair it with a heeled shoe or boot.
Festive
A dress code that tends to come up around my favourite time of year...the Christmas holidays! Festive attire is similar to cocktail attire but with a little bit more dazzle. Say a sparkly sequin dress or a crushed velvet skirt or pant, or even a pair of jeans with a sparkly top. If you love your black clothes, make your outfit pop with some fun coloured or sparkly shoes!
Who doesn't like to wear a little bit of sparkle around the holiday's?! I definitely do!
