embrace the change
I’ve been feeling compelled to write a blog on some changes (body in particular) that happen to most women as they enter their 40’s and 50’s, also known as perimenopause/menopause. One of the most common things that I hear from my clients is that they are frustrated with their clothes not fitting them, they don’t feel like themselves, and they are at a loss with what to wear when their body has changed. “Should I shop for new clothes or wait until the weight has dropped? I just want to feel good again!” I get it. I have been feeling the same lately and it’s been frustrating. You are not alone ladies, even when it does feel that way sometimes.
I have always believed that clothes are powerful. They make you feel things. The days you don’t feel great are the days you need to put a little more effort in what you’re wearing. Your mood will change, it’s a fact. Should you wait until you lose weight to buy new clothes? Absolutely not! Do you want to feel shitty until then? I’d say, probably not. Look for pants with a draw string or an elastic waistband that will be comfortable and adjust well with the change of your body. Loose tops or flowy dresses are always great and look good on women with any shape.
Our bodies are all different, not one is the same. Our bodies have changed since birth and will continue to change until we are no longer here. We need to remind ourselves that every stage is beautiful and what our bodies do for us every day is a blessing. The only way you can change how you feel is by doing something about it. Focus on the things you love about your body and wear clothes that accentuate that. Once you embrace the changes that are happening, I promise you, you will love yourself in your clothes again. What’s more exciting than shopping for some new clothes anyway?! And if you are unsure where to start, I would be happy to help you find your beautiful self again.
